CEV, Luxembourg. It is late July and many people are spending their time by the beach but it is the right time to start the preparations for the next Snow Volleyball season as well, with National Federations, promoters and ski resorts invited to come forward to host a stop of the 2021 European Tour to help grow this fresh, young and energetic sport!
The Snow Volleyball season potentially runs from November to May, with opportunities available for organisers to host a stop of the European Tour, which has experienced a tremendous growth since the first edition held in 2016, and the CEV encouraging member Federations to make plans for their national tours as an additional, important avenue to grow the game. Moreover, exhibition matches / events can be instrumental in developing the sport even further as well, especially when held at iconic locations.
Next to the inaugural EuroSnowVolley held in March 2018 in Wagrain-Kleinarl and Flachau, Austria, other highlights in this process include the Snow Volleyball Night co-hosted by the FIVB, CEV and the Austrian Olympic Committee during the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, the launch of the FIVB World Tour and the exhibition event held in conjunction with the 2020 Youth Winter Olympics in Lausanne this past January.
Unfortunately, the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the 2020 season ending quite abruptly, after the European Tour returned to Georgia for the third straight year and paid a first, historic visit to both Armenia and Slovakia.
This, nevertheless, has only grown the appetite of the Snow Volleyball community for the return of international competition, and we hope that many players will be willing to experience Snow Volleyball for the first time in their life as well!
Make sure you check out the event opportunities document available on the CEV website here and we very much look forward to receiving applications from experienced and new organisers to deliver yet another terrific ‘snow experience’ for all involved!
