Source: CEV. Despite the many challenges still brought by the coronavirus pandemic, it is important for the European Volleyball family to keep their positive energy and to resume European Volleyball and Beach Volleyball activities as soon as the circumstances allow – while at the same time making sure it is safe for everyone involved to do so. This is the key message sent by the members of the CEV Board of Administration chaired by CEV President Aleksandar Bori?i?, who convened virtually for a second time since the outbreak of the pandemic on Tuesday afternoon.
“It is especially in these circumstances that our strong sense of solidarity and team work become even more important and can make the difference,” the CEV President said. “The CEV will continue to support all members of the Volleyball family, who have shown tremendous strength and resilience in navigating these difficult times.”
Among a number of items on the agenda, the Board evaluated the latest developments and numerous activities carried out following the decision to adopt the so-called ‘Marshall Plan’ for European Volleyball taken back in April 2020 in order to manage the pandemic and find the best possible solutions together with all stakeholders.
After having released the 11.5 million € heavy ‘Marshall Plan’, the Board members reiterated their commitment to further invest in activities and support all stakeholders of the European Volleyball family by approving the updated budget for 2020 and the budget proposal for 2021, to be approved by the General Assembly scheduled to take place in October in Moscow (RUS).
The CEV Board of Administration agreed on several exceptional measures to react on the impact of the pandemic for the 2021 edition of the European Cups, with the opening of the registration process due on Wednesday, July 8. The BoA also approved the proposed calendar for the 2021 edition of the CEV Champions League Volley, CEV Cup and CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup, with action due to begin in late September with the opening rounds of Europe’s prime Volleyball club competition.
The BoA members validated also a series of proposals to update and revise the CEV regulatory framework in order to reflect the latest competition formats, health procedures adopted to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus as well as the existing contractual obligations towards external stakeholders.
Moreover, the Board of Administration gave the green light to an extensive concept of data collection and distribution system for the three disciplines (Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Snow Volleyball), which will account for the provision of much valuable information to engage with fans of the sport through the CEV’s constantly growing digital activities.
