The men’s team of OK Maribor will be starting their MEVZA League campaign on Wednesday, hosting defending champions ACH Volley Ljubljana. Slovenia’s dominant squad in recent years suffered a surprising straight-sets home defeat at the hands of Calcit Volley Kamnik in the season opener this past Saturday evening.
“OK Maribor didn’t participate in European competitions for many years. We are looking forward to play against these strong opponents. For my young team, competing in the MEVZA League is posing a big challenge. Our season’s goals are to gain experience and to pick up as much points as we can”, Maribor head coach Sebastijan Škorc explains.

On Friday, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national champions Mladost Brcko are going to make their competition debuts on home soil against last season’s silver medallists SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, while Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel will host Mladost Zagreb. The Austrian side and the Croatian team as well started in this year’s MEVZA League edition with tight losses last weekend.
