MYJAVA – The Men’s MEVZA volleyball tournament, hosted in Myjava, Slovakia, witnessed a commanding performance from the home team, TJ Spartak Myjava. In their opening match of the tournament, they faced Croatian contenders OK Ribola Kastela and emerged victorious with a clean sweep, winning 3:0 (27:25, 25:20, 25:16).
The Croatian team put up a tough fight in the first set, staying neck-and-neck with the hosts. However, in the subsequent sets, Spartak Myjava raised their game, showcasing superior play that secured their well-deserved triumph.
Reflecting on the match, Vitalii Osipov, the head coach of TJ Spartak Myjava, expressed mixed feelings. “While I’m pleased with the 3-0 result, the first set was a bit more challenging than expected. We started off struggling with our serves and defense, but we managed to turn it around by enhancing our serve and overall performance. My gratitude goes out to the players for this win,” he stated.
Ivan Rancic, the head coach of OK Ribola Kastela, acknowledged the strength of their opponents. “I want to extend my congratulations to Spartak Myjava. This match not only sets the tone for an exciting MEVZA tournament but also highlights the high level of competition and sportsmanship among the participating teams.
