Austria and the Czech Republic successful at the MEVZA Beach Volleyball Championships U16 and U18 in Hartberg

HARTBERG – From July 20th to 22nd, the best young beach volleyball players from six MEVZA countries (Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Hungary) met to determine the MEVZA champions in the age categories U16 and U18. The tournament was played in the Styrian sports town of Hartberg.

The winners were determined among 50 teams, partly in great heat but also in pouring rain. In the U16 girls category, the favored team from the Czech Republic Duskova/Ebertova prevailed against the Austrians De Meersman/Lippitsch in the final. At the age category U16 boys also a team from the Czech Republic won – Ibrahim/Vasuth. 

The U18 competitions were dominated by Austria´s Berger/Hohenauer and Writz/Meier that both won the gold medal. Berger/Hohenauer prevailed against the Czechs Lajkebova/Kleblova and Writz/Meier beat the Hungarian winners from the MEVZA tournament in Prague in the final, Niemeier/Tari.
