MEVZA League – ZAGREB and MYJAVA celebrate comprehensive wins | Saturday’s match postponed

On Friday evening, HAOK Mladost ZAGREB celebrated their sixth MEVZA League win in a row, cruising to a clean sweep (25-19, 25-22, 25-14) of Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL. Already on Thursday, Croatia’s reigning national Champions had secured three points against the ‘Nordmänner’ on home soil.

As a result, HAOK Mladost ZAGREB moved up to third place in the current standing now on 19 points from a 7-2 win-loss record. Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL, on the other hand, are 6-7 and have almost no chance of making it to the Final Four tournament in Bleiburg.

Kruno Nikacevic, captain HAOK Mladost ZAGREB: “We were a bit nervous in those two games against URW, we also made some unnecessary mistakes. But the most important thing is that we recorded six points for the standing. There are still a few matches to play, but I think everything is going according to plan.”

No less convincing was the performance of TJ Spartak MYJAVA at UVC Holding GRAZ. The Slovakian side gave no chance to the hosts, winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-19). Therefore, seventh-placed TJ Spartak MYJAVA increased their points to ten (3-8), while Austria’s reigning national champions suffered their twelfth loss (1-12).

The match between SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (AUT) and OK Calcit KAMNIK (SLO) scheduled for Saturday at the JUFA-Arena Bleiburg has been postponed due a COVID-19 outbreak.
