In the men’s MEVZA League, OK Calcit KAMNIK secured three points for the standing against Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL on Tuesday night. The 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23) win lifted the hosts up to fourth place in the table on 13 points (from a 5-3 win-loss record). The “Nordmänner”, on the other hand, suffered their fourth loss in the seventh match they have contested this season so far.

Mitja Gasparini and Jan Klobucar were the most prolific players for OK Calcit KAMNIK with 19 and 14 points, respectively, while Marek Sulc (10), Daulton Sinoski and Audrius Knasas (9 each) top scored for the away side.
Matija Plesko, head coach OK Calcit Volley: “There are no easy matches in the MEVZA League. Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL confirmed once again that they are a strong team. Therefore, we had to put in a fair effort to emerge victorious from this match. The only thing that bothered me was that in all three sets we brought the opponent back into the game with easy mistakes. On the other hand, I am happy about the way we played in the decisive situations. I am also glad that Mitja Gasparini was in the mood for attack, but he will probably need a few more matches to reach top level.”

Already on Friday night, Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL will be hosting third-placed SK Zadruga AICH/DON in an Austrian derby, while defending champions and table leaders ACH Volley LJUBLJANA will be facing their compatriots OK MERKUR MARIBOR on Saturday. The ‘Orange Dragons’ have not dropped a single point in the nine matches they have contested so far. However, Slovenia’s reigning national champions are just three points behind (8-1 win-loss record). Later that evening, UVC Holding GRAZ (AUT) will be challenging HAOK Mladost ZAGREB (CRO).
