Mladost ZAGREB have reached the 2nd Round of this year’s Champions League
Despite losing their re-match with CV GRAN CANARIA 1-3, Mladost ZAGREB secured their spot in the 2nd Round of the women’s CEV Champions League Volley 2022 by virtue of their 15-9 win in the all-important Golden Set. Their next opponent will be Switzerland’s Viteos NEUCHATEL UC.
This was the first home CEV Champions League match for Mladost in a very long time after last year they had to forfeit their fixture due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Moreover, it was the first official match with Mladost for youngster Aurora Papac – a player born in 2005. After a long time, there were some spectators – about 100 – at the sports hall Dom odbojke Bojan Strani?.

“CV GRAN CANARIA started the match much better than we did – they were well-prepared, especially from a tactical standpoint. Even though we struggled at some point, I can only say that we gave our maximum. Many thanks to our opponent for playing such a good match.”
Klara Peric
Setter of Mladost ZAGREB
“I am happy with this victory against a very good team from Spain and I think my girls played with all their heart. I am sure the people who came here tonight enjoyed watching such a good match.”
Leonard Baric
Head coach of Mladost ZAGREB
“Of course, I am disappointed with the Golden Set but proud because we won the re-match 3-1 against such a good team. Congratulations to Mladost but also to my teammates because we fought bravely until the end.”
