The Women’s MEVZA League kick-off is just a few days away. The first three match-ups will be taking place later this week in Maribor. OK Marina KAŠTELA (CRO) will clash with Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST (HUN) twice this coming weekend. On Monday, hosts Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR (SLO) are going to face OK Marina KAŠTELA. To complete the programme, the Croatians will compete with the 2020 MEVZA League champions Calcit Volley KAMNIK (SLO) on Tuesday. The men’s season opener is due to follow on September 30.
The women’s and men’s sides initially compete in a double round robin format. After completion of the main rounds, the MEVZA League will be reaching its climax with the Final Four tournaments (hosts will be announced later this year). Live streaming of all matches will be available for fans to follow the competition as closely as possible.
Karl Hanzl, MEVZA President: “I am particularly pleased that there will be another women’s competition after a year’s break. This time Slovakia (men) and Hungary (women) are making their comeback in the MEVZA League. Therefore, sides from four countries will compete in both the men’s and women’s leagues. I am really looking forward to the show of strength between these teams.”
