Before the today’s begin of the next World Tour 1-star in Sofia, already the fourth overall and second women’s one this summer at the same location, we can again have a look at the previous week, which was very beach volleyball rich. It featured three Beach Volleyball World Tour events, where MEVZA teams were strongly represented and even reached all the way to the medal rankings.

The Slovenian team Kotnik (in the back) and Lovšin T. (chasing the ball) made it to the quarterfinal of the 2-star in Rubavu, where they were stopped by the eventual winners from USA.
The highest level was played in Rwanda at the 2-star, where USA teams took the most medals, from MEVZA teams, the men’s Czech team (Bercik/Semerad) and Slovenian women team (Kotnik/Lovšin T.) made it all the way to the quarterfinals and herewith earned a top-5 finish on the World Tour.
At both 1-stars in Leuven, Belgium and Sofia, Bulgaria (men only) another Slovenian team Pokeršnik D./Bošnjak stood out, as it reached the podium, celebrating a bronze medal.
Also in the quarterfinals were Austrian teams Friedl, Fr./Pfeffer, E. and Ertl, F./Kratz, while the Czech team Weiss/Dzavoronok made it to the same 5th place finish all the way from the qualification.
Check out how the Middle European teams coped at the 2-star in Rubavu, Rwanda, and both 1-stars in Leuven, Belgium and Sofia, Bulgaria.
