Austria and Slovenia in Pool A and Bosnia & Herzegovina in Pool B won their CEV Volleyball European Silver League 2021 – Women matches on Friday and took the lead in their respective groups.

Pool A
Luxembourg – Slovenia 0 – 3 (14 – 25, 13 – 25, 16 – 25)
Slovenia achieved their second victory since the start of the League Round in Pool A. After shutting out Austria on Thursday, in only 61 minutes (total length of the match, from the first serve through until the last point has ended) Slovenia secured the temporary first place in the pool, thanks to the convincing performance of Nika Markovic, who scored 16 points and was the top scorer of the match. To highlight the ace count of the match: 3 for Luxembourg compared to 13 for Slovenia.

Pool A
Israel – Austria 0 – 3 (16 – 25, 11 – 25, 21 – 25)
Austria remains in pursuit of Slovenia thanks to the victory against Israel. 37 winning spikes and 9 aces allowed to team of coach De Brandt to secure second place in the standings.

Pool B
Bosnia & Herzegovina – Latvia 3 – 0 (25 – 19, 25 – 20, 25 – 18)
The Gradska Arena “Husejin Smajlovi?” ZENICA brought luck to the home team of Bosnia & Herzegovina who, thanks to a convincing performance by Dajana Boskovic and 8 successful point winning blocks, had the upper hand over Latvia.
“The Latvian team is a well-known opponent. Through the qualifications for the European Championship, we had two matches with them. This was an opportunity for us from the professional staff to try some tactics and give a chance to the girls who played less. I am satisfied with what has been done.”

Pool B
Estonia – Portugal 2-3 (25 – 19, 23 – 25, 25 – 23, 27 – 29, 11 – 15)
A long match forced Estonia and Portugal to compete for victory at the tie-break. Portugal prevailed and after 297 successful spikes achieved by both teams throughout the entire match. Top scorer of the match the Estonian player Kertu Laak (19 points).
“It was a difficult match for us. Simple things did not go our way, as we wanted. In the end we won, it’s still nothing big. Let’s rest and prepare for tomorrow’s match. Let’s take it one match at a time.”
