Zagreb, Croatia. Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic hosted on Monday FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F°, CEV President Aleksandar Boricic and the President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation Ante Bakovic for a high-profile meeting joined by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Croatia, Nikolina Brnjac, and CEV Board of Administration member Zdeslav Barac as well.

The parties talked about the past year, which was obviously a very difficult and challenging time for sports in general, including Volleyball, and Prime Minister Plenkovic emphasised the support provided by the Croatian government to the sports family in order to help deal with the many challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

The two Volleyball high-ranking officials are currently visiting Croatia on the eve of an exciting national team season. Croatia, and more specifically Zadar, along with Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria, will be co-hosting the 2021 edition of CEV EuroVolley Women. Moreover, the city of Zadar was due to host the 2021 women’s FIVB Challenger Cup – but the FIVB recently announced the cancellation of this competition because of the pandemic.
During the meeting, the parties discussed other items instrumental to the further development of Volleyball in Croatia, the strengthening of the image of Croatian Volleyball and its return to the European elite.
