Zagreb, Croatia. On Wednesday, CEV President Aleksandar Boricic travelled to Zagreb to meet with the President of the Croatian Volleyball Federation (HOS), Mr Ante Bakovic, and with the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee, Mr Zlatko Mateša, to identify actions to support the further growth of Volleyball in the country as well as the organisation of this year’s EuroVolley Women in Zadar.
In his capacity, Mr Mateša will be playing the all-important role of #EuroVolleyW ambassador to the International Olympic Committee. The CEV President and the Croatian officials discussed and agreed on activities, guidelines and other details relating to the organisation of CEV EuroVolley 2021 Women, which will be taking place later this summer in the city of Zadar.
Moreover, through the support of CEV and the Croatian Olympic Committee, the parties agreed on a number of activities for the development of all Volleyball disciplines in Croatia, including Snow Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Volleyball at school. The CEV will be providing extra support to the Croatian Volleyball family in terms of equipment, expertise and knowhow. Moreover, NOC President Mateša and HOS President Bakovic will be special guests of CEV President Boricic at the much-anticipated CEV Champions League Volley 2021 Super Finals due to take place in Verona (Italy) on May 1, 2021.
The CEV will continue to support the activities run by the Croatian Volleyball Federation and help with the overall development of Volleyball in Croatia. Moreover, the CEV will be providing special financial assistance after the HOS had to vacate their headquarters, as an earthquake in March of 2020 caused extensive damages to the premises. The Croatian Volleyball Federation will be moving to their new offices at the end of March, about a year after the quake that hit Zagreb. CEV President Aleksandar Boricic, FIVB President Ary S. Graça F° and NOC President Mateša will be among the high-profile guests of the Croatian Volleyball Federation on this truly special occasion.
In the end, the CEV President expressed his satisfaction for having such productive meetings as well as for the good cooperation established with both the Croatian Olympic Committee and the Croatian Volleyball Federation.
