On Wednesday, VK Lvi PRAHA caused a surprise in the first leg of the men’s CEV Challenge Cup semi-finals, when they celebrated a convincing 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-20) win over favourites Ziraat Bankasi SK ANKARA on home soil. Therefore, the Czech team is a big step closer to compete for the trophy. The away match is scheduled for March 3.
1. MCM-Diamant KAPOSVAR, on the other hand, suffered a straight-set loss at the hands of hosts C.S.M. Volei Alba BLAJ in their first leg of the women’s CEV Challenge Cup semi-finals. The hosts stormed to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) home victory. “Blaj plays an intense game with powerful attacks and very strong blocks combined with a very good defence. It was a very bad match for my team and all we have to do is prepare for next Wednesday. I do not know what our chances are, now I feel that the team is very tired, but we will see,” KAPOSVAR’s head coach Sasa Nedeljkovic was obviously disappointed.
