On Wednesday, Slovenia’s multiple MEVZA League winners ACH Volley LJUBLJANA suffered a 0-3 (19-25, 23-25, 21-25) away loss at the hands of Kuzbass KEMEROVO (RUS) in the fourth leg of the men’s Champions League group stage. Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE (CZE), on the other hand, was already overpowered by hosts Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA (ITA) with 1-3 (21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 19-25) on Tuesday.
In the men’s Challenge Cup round of 16 Penzügyör BUDAPEST (HUN) emerged victorious from their first clash with BDO Volley Haasrode LEUVEN (BEL), celebrating a 3-1 (26-24, 25-23, 18-25, 25-14) home win, while VK CEZ KARLOVARSKO (CZE) left no chance to ACS Volei Municipal ZALAU (ROU), dispatching the Romanians 3-0 (25:13, 25-11, 25-19).

On Saturday, the men’s MEVZA League will resume with the top match between defending champions ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) and last season’s runners-up SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (AUT). While the Slovenian CEV Champions League participants have already secured the top place in the main round this past Saturday, Austria’s dominant team in recent years is still battling for a Final Four spot. When both teams clashed for the first time this season back in November, AICH/DOB emerged victorious in four sets on home soil. The men’s regular season will end on February 22.
The women’s regular season will already finish with three fixtures this coming Saturday. Alongside main round winners Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR (SLO) and hosts GEN-I Volley NOVA GORICA (SLO), Calcit Volley KAMNIK (SLO) as well as ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRCKO (BIH) will contest this season’s Final Four tournament in Nova Gorica on February 8 and 9.
