The women’s MEVZA League continued with three fixtures on Saturday evening. Calcit Volley KAMNIK suffered a surprising 1-3 (19-25, 25-20, 21-25, 22-25) away loss at the hands of HOK KASTELA (CRO). Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR (SLO), on the other hand, celebrated a stunning 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 sweep against UOK Banjaluka Volley BANJA LUKA (BIH).
As a result, Slovenia’s reigning domestic champions clinched the top spot in the current table two points ahead of their national rivals Calcit Volley, while the bottom of the table from Bosnia and Herzegowina has still to wait for their maiden MEVZA League win. Nova KBM’s Lorena Fijok Lorber and Banjaluka Volley’s Milica Sorak top scored for their teams with 17 and 11 points, respectively.

In the closing matchup of the sixth round GEN-I Volley NOVA GORICA (SLO) needed almost two hours to overpower ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRCKO (BIH) 3-2 (25-19, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25, 15-12). GEN-I Volley’s Sara Kovac was the player of the match after delivering an impressive performance that saw her finishing on a total of 29 points. Andjelka Radiskovic from the away side scored 23 points. Slovenia’s national league runners-up moved up to third place in the current standing.
