On Sunday night, Mladost ZAGREB claimed a compelling straight-set (25:14, 29:27, 25:19) away win at women’s MEVZA League newcomers UOK Banjaluka Volley BANJA LUKA (BIH) in the closing fixture of the fifth round.
As result of their first victory after suffering three losses in a row, Croatia’s reigning national champions drew level with fourth-placed GEN-I Volley NOVA GORICA from Slovenia in the current standing on six points each. Banjaluka Volley, on the other hand, remain bottom of the table and are still waiting for their maiden win in their very first MEVZA League campaign.
Dinka Kulic and Bozana Butigan split Mladost ZAGREB’s best scorer honours with 12 points each, while Banjaluka Volley’s Milica Sorak managed to put 13 points to her name.

Mladost ZAGREB head coach Sasa Ivanisevic: “We obviously put a lot of effort from the very beginning. After winning the first set easily, we needed some luck to clinch the second. Finally the 2-0 lead gave us the self-confidence we needed to emerge victorious!”
Banjaluka Volley head coach Radmila Markovic: “We keep repeating the same mistakes again and again. On the other hand, this was our first MEVZA League match on home soil and we are still in a learning process… We are playing against teams that are stronger than us, so we can learn a lot from them. We want to raise our level step by step!”
Banjaluka Volley middle blocker Jovana Kovacevic: “Sadly we had some misfortune in the second set but if we continue working that hard I believe we will succeed soon!”
