The men’s team of OK Maribor started their first MEVZA League campaign with a tight 1-3 (25-23, 23-25, 14-25, 25-27) home defeat against defending champions ACH Volley Ljubljana on Wednesday evening. The Orange Dragons had suffered a surprising straight-sets loss at the hands of Calcit Volley Kamnik in the season opener past Saturday. Now Slovenia’s dominant team is back on track!

“In front of their home crowd, Maribor delivered a good performance, but we had more desire to win the game”, ACH Volley head coach Matija Plesko was satisfied with the attitude shown by his players.

On Friday, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national champions Mladost Brcko are going to make their competition debuts on home soil against last season’s silver medallists SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, while Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel will host Mladost Zagreb. The Austrian side and the Croatian team as well started in this year’s MEVZA League edition with tight losses last weekend.
