AMSTETTEN – In the second game of the MEVZA tournament in Amstetten, the current leader in the standings, Slovenian ACH Volley Ljubljana, played against Croatian OK Ribola Kaštela.
The Slovenians were the out and out favorites after a straight set win against host VCA Amstetten NÖ on Tuesday.
The Croatian team struggled to keep up the pace of the Champions-League-participant from Slovenia’s capital in the first set but managed to improve their game in the second and third set. In the end Slovenian team was one notch above the Croatians and secured a clear 3-0 win (25-12, 25-17, 25-13) and enlarged their hot streak in MEVZA.
“Kastela had problems with our reception and if you can’t stand our serve, it is difficult for every team. We are satisfied with our season so far”, said Radovan Ga?i?, head coach of Volley Ljubljana.
“We had a long trip to Amstetten. I tried to let some of our younger players to gain experience. We are doing good at our league, so now we want to make some good plays at MEVZA also”, said Ivan Ran?i?, head coach of Ribola Kaštela.
Ljubljana can go into the New Years break happy because they are the only unbeaten team in this MEVZA season, while Kaštela has to play one more match. They are gonna try and win their first points in MEVZA this season against home team of this tournament, Amstetten.
