The MEVZA Junior Club Championship officially started today in Zadar, bringing together U19 club teams from across the MEVZA region for four days of international competition in both the men’s and women’s categories. The opening day featured a full schedule of group stage matches and provided an early look at the quality and intensity of this year’s tournament.
In Group C, the opening day delivered several demanding matches. The CRO Team enjoyed a perfect start, recording two five-set victories. They first defeated Újpest Torna Egylet U19 by 3-2, before later overcoming Lemesos Volleyball U19 by the same score. Union Bisamberg Hollbrunn U19 also made a strong impression, opening with a clear 3-0 win against V.C. Ramat Aviv U19 and closing the day with another straight sets victory over Lemesos Volleyball U19. Újpest Torna Egylet U19 claimed their first win of the tournament by defeating V.C. Ramat Aviv U19 by 3-1.

Group D was marked by dominant performances. Croatian club OK Olimpik U19 opened the tournament with two convincing wins, defeating Békéscsabai Röplabda SE U19 and Maccabi Hadera U19, both by 3-0. PVK Olymp Praha U19 also started strongly, recording a straight-sets victory against Maccabi Hadera U19.
In the men’s tournament, Group A matches were played at OŠ Zadarski otoci. Czech side VC Brno U19 and Slovenian club OK Fužinar Ravne U19 both opened the competition with confident performances. VC Brno U19 defeated Penezugyor Sportgyesulet U19 by 3-0, while OK Fužinar Ravne U19 also secured a 3-0 win against Maccabi SVA Rehovot U19. Later in the day, Maccabi SVA Rehovot U19 claimed a 3-0 victory over Penezugyor Sportgyesulet U19, completing the opening round of matches in the group.
Group B saw two matches on the opening day. Kecskeméti Junior Sport Nonprofit Kft. U19 began with a 3-1 win against TJ Spartak Velike Mezi?í?í U19, but were unable to maintain that momentum in their second match, as OK Ribola Kaštela U19 recorded a convincing 3-0 victory. The remaining Group B match between TJ Spartak Velike Mezi?í?í U19 and OK Ribola Kaštela U19 is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
The MEVZA Junior Club Championship continues tomorrow in Zadar with additional group stage matches, as teams battle for places in the next phase of the competition.
