ACH Volley LJUBLJANA is just one step away from a perfect regular season in the men’s MEVZA League. The confident leaders in the current standing and defending champions recorded their fifteenth win in a row on Friday evening, beating hosts HAOK Mladost ZAGREB 3-1 (25-23, 27-29, 25-20, 25-16).
Therefore, ACH Volley LJUBLJANA increased their points to maximum of 45. The “Orange Dragons” have only one match left in the regular season – on February 14 at Final Four tournament hosts SK Zadruga AICH/DOB. For the reigning Croatian champions, on the other hand, the home defeat means a serious setback in their race for participation in this MEVZA League season’s climax scheduled for late February. Top scorers: Boris Busa (18) for HAOK Mladost ZAGREB; Nikola Gjorgiev (26) for the visitors from Slovenia.

In the second match played on Friday, underdogs TJ Spartak MYJAVA secured three points on home soil, cruising to a clean sweep (25-14, 25-19, 25-17) of fifth-placed SK Zadruga AICH/DOB. Top scorers: Matus Konc (16) for the winning team; Xander Ketrzynski (10) for the former competition winners from Austria.
Martin Pipa, head coach TJ Spartak MYJAVA: “We played very well today. We put pressure on our opponents with the serve and we defended well. Overall, I am satisfied with my teams’s performance. I hope that we will play that way more often.”
Zvonko Nikolic, head coach SK Zadruga AICH/DOB: “Gongratulations to Myjava, they played very well and managed to put us under pressure with their serve, we were not able to resist.”
Already on Saturday, SK Zadruga AICH/DOB will be facing bottom of the table VKP BRATISLAVA and UVC Holding GRAZ will be hosting second-placed OK MERKUR MARIBOR, while HAOK Mladost ZAGREB will clash with TJ Spartak MYJAVA on Sunday.
