ACH Volley Ljubljana emerged victorious from their two MEVZA League matches in Slovakia this week. On Tuesday evening, the defending champions gave no chance to VKP BRATISLAVA (25:18, 25:20, 25:16). Furthermore, the “Orange Dragons” needed four sets (25-19, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21) to secure a away win at TJ Spartak MYJAVA on Wednesday. As a result, ACH Volley is sharing the lead in the current standing with OK MERKUR MARIBOR on twelve points both. Slovenia’s national champions celebrated a 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-14, 25-19) win at Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL. Ach Volley as well as Merkur MARIBOR have won all of their matches in this MEVZA League season so far.

Later that evening SK Zadruga AICH/DOB overpowered hosts OK Calcit KAMNIK in 111 minutes 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12). The victory takes the former MEVZA League winners up to the third spot of the table on five points from two matches they have contested so far. Matija Plesko, head coach of Calcit Volley: “Of course, we are not satisfied with the result and we were trying for more, but AICH/DOB deserve praise for the game. It is true that there were only nine of them, but they came with the first lineup. They came here to fight and in the end they got what they were looking for.”

In the Women’s MEVZA League VB NÖ SOKOL/POST recorded their first points for the standing. The hosts celebrated a hard-fought 3-1 (26-24, 26-24, 19- 25, 26-24) victory over HAOK Mladost ZAGREB in Vienna. Already on Tuesday, Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST suffered a 2-3 (25-18, 13-25 22-25 25-19 14-16) home loss against OK Calcit KAMNIK. Therefore, Slovenia’s national champions top the table after increasing their tally to five points.
