Past week featured a men’s and a women’s 1-star Beach Volleyball World Tour events in Warsaw, Poland and Koropove, Ukraine respectively. The final in the women’s event in Ukraine was played between two Middle European teams. Israel’s top team Anita Dave / Sofia Starikov celebrated their first gold medal in front of the Austrian duo Franziska Friedl / Eva Pfeffer in straight sets (23-21, 21-16). Israeli boys River Day / Kevin Cuzmiciov just missed the medal ranks with a fourth place finish in Warsaw.

With so many great finishes (five Middle European teams in the top 5) the anticipation ahead of the upcoming events in Apeldoorn (NED) and Cervia (ITA) is even bigger. With both tournaments being double gender events, Middle European teams will be represented in an even greater number. Especially Cervia is geographically closer for many teams and therefore a few more are signed up for the Italian event.
