In the ‘small final’, recently crowned U17 Volleyball European champions Miha Okorn and Luka Marovt (SLO) were happy to receive the bronze medal after another tiebreak match.
“Finn and I are really happy about winning this fantastic tournament. We went into the competition without any expectations, as I had not played a beach tournament in 2021 because I was at the European Championship with the U17 national team. At the same time, it was also the first tournament for us as a team. After a slight false start, we improved from game to game and with the great setting here on a home court we were able to deliver our best performance.”

The Styrian fairy tale was unfortunately not perfect, because Marie Bruckner with Emma Hohenauer had to admit defeat in an extremely exciting tiebreak final in the U18 women’s competition against the Pavelkova sisters from the Czech Republic and the hosts had to be satisfied with silver. The bronze medal went to Croatia’s Burilovic/Rasic.

In the semi-finals of the girls, it became clear that there would be a tough head-to-head race for the medals. In the end, Slovenia’s Donko/Ferlez could triumph with the gold medal. Austria’s U16 hope, Sophia Deisl and Carmen Raab had to be content with silver after a long fight. Bronze went to the Hungarian duo Erdos/Hermeczi.
