The Round of 16 of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour 4-star event in Gstaad is set and is highlighted by the Austrian pair Seidl/Waller, who have amongst others beaten the Russian pair Stoyanovskiy/Krasilnikov, the reigning world champs. In order to stay in the tournament and advance into the quarterfinals in the Swiss Alps the Austrian duo will now face the Brasilian stars Evandro/Bruno.
Further, in the match to top the pool and advance directly into the 2nd round, Seidl Rob./Waller (AUT) fell short to the local heroes and King of the Court champions Krattiger/Breer. The draw then decided that their next opponent will be the winners of the Olympic Qualifying tournament held in China, the Latvian duo Plavins/Tocs. Philipp and Robin won with a solid 2-0 and guaranteeing themselves another top 10 finish on the World Tour.

The other Austrian pairs, Ermacora/Pristauz, Doppler/Horst and Schützenhöfer/Plesiutschnig played a few tight matches, however ended their journey at one of the beach volleyball’s most iconic locations unfortunately already after the pool play and a 25th place finish.
Friday will be the penultimate day of competition for the men in Gstaad and will feature the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals. The semifinals and medal matches are scheduled for Saturday.
