Vienna, Austria. To conclude their preparations for the upcoming EuroVolley qualifiers, Austria played this past weekend a couple of friendly matches against Norway in Maribor – with the Scandinavians being one of their opponents in a EuroVolley qualifying pool that features the national teams of Greece and Spain as well.

Team Austria during their friendly matches with Norway played in Maribor
On Sunday, Team Austria recorded a 3-1 victory (25-17, 25-19, 25-10, 18-25) in a match where the fourth set was an additional opportunity to practice. The day before, Austria had swept five sets in a row.
“We won the two training games dropping only one set and taking eight, and both matches would have ended 3-0 for us. That is positive and was important in terms of qualifying for the European Championship. We will now complete our preparation at the VIVA Sports Centre in Steinbrunn with a focus on video analyses and with the last physical and technical-tactical work. After two good days of training in Steinbrunn, we will go to Greece on Wednesday.”
Jan De Brandt
Head coach of Team Austria
Before the friendlies with Norway, Austria had played two matches with Slovenia in Steinbrunn, which finished 2-2 and 3-2 for the hosts. The first round of the EuroVolley qualifier Pool C runs from May 7 to 9, 2021 in Larissa (Greece) followed a week later by a second single round robin at the Raiffeisen Sportpark in Graz.
