Ljubljana, Slovenia. Slovenia should have made their FIVB Volleyball Nations League debut last year, following some wonderful seasons in the FIVB Volleyball World League and the European Championships and after dominating the FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup of 2019 that earned them the ticket to join the elite of world volleyball.
But last season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, meaning Slovenia will be stepping on the court for a VNL match for the first time this year in the ‘Rimini Bubble’.
Tine Urnaut who has been starring this season in the Italian League with Allianz of Milan and Klemen Cebulj who has been powering Asseco Resovia Rzeszow in the Polish League are two of the stars to watch for. They are amongst the 16 players that coach Alberto Giuliani has called up to begin preparing for the VNL on 2 May.
