Wagrain-Kleinarl, Austria. After as many as two consecutive stops of the CEV Snow Volleyball European Tour 2021, Snow Volleyball action will continue this coming weekend in Wagrain-Kleinarl with the Austrian national championships featuring nine men’s and 10 women’s teams.
The event will be taking place at the very same venue as the European Tour competitions, i.e. at the ‘Flying Mozart’ Valley Station. Even before it begins, the tournament is somehow historic, since the number of participating teams has broken the all-time record, exceeding the figures registered at the three previous editions of the Austrian national championship.
Maximilian Trummer and Felix Friedl will be hoping to retain the men’s title they seized in 2020, with their main challenge coming from the trio Florian Schnetzer, Matthias Seiser and Moritz Fabian Kindl, who sensationally finished second at the first European Tour event in February, losing only to Russia in the final.
The competition will begin on Saturday morning at 9 am, with the forecasts announcing sunny weather and temperatures however close to zero. “We are very pleased that we were able to bring the national championship to Wagrain-Kleinarl. After the two CEV European Tour events, this is another absolute highlight for Austrian athletes,” says Martin Kaswurm, managing director of the organiser and promoter Chaka2.
Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, no spectators will be able to watch the matches on site. However, the steadily growing fan base of this young and spectacular sport can still follow the action up close through the live streaming available at www.snowvolleyball.com!
