In the men’s MEVZA League, Mladost ZAGREB suffered a very dramatic 2:3 (25:18, 20:25, 25:19, 25:27, 13:15) home loss at the hands of title-holders ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO). Therefore, Croatia’s reigning national champions missed their first chance to secure the last remaining Final Four spot.
“Unfortunately, we lost another tiebreaker, but we showed that we are able to keep up with the best teams. On Wednesday, we will face Lindemans AALST (BEL) in the second leg of the CEV Cup eighth-finals, so I hope that we will deliver a good performance again,” ZAGREB middle-blocker Stefan Kovacevic explained.
ACH Volley head coach Matija Plesko said, that his players have to hone their skills. “We won but we have to do much better in the next matches. Already on Wednesday, we will face BERLIN Recycling Volleys in the Champions League pool stage,” so Plesko.

Mladost ZAGREB will get their next opportunity to secure a MEVZA League Final Four berth this coming Saturday at Calcit Volley KAMNIK (SLO), while their closest rivals SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (AUT) will finish their regular season campaign against Mladost Ribola KASTELA (CRO) on February 22.
Alongside main round winners ACH Volley and hosts Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT), Calcit Volley have already qualified for the MEVZA League climax due to take place in Zwettl on March 4 and 5.
