Slovenia’s multiple MEVZA League winners ACH Volley LJUBLJANA suffered a 0-3 (21-25, 15-25, 24-26) away loss at the hands of BERLIN Recycling Volleys (GER) in their men’s Champions League opener earlier this week. Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE (CZE), on the other hand, overpowered Fenerbahçe ISTANBUL (TUR) in five thrilling sets (25-20, 21-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-12) on Thursday evening.

In the women’s CEV Cup round of 32 Croatia’s reigning champions Mladost ZAGREB celebrated an impressive 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-23) away victory against their national rivals OK KASTELA. UOK Banjaluka Volley BANJA LUKA (BiH) secured a hard-fought 3-2 (30-28, 15-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-11) home win over ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRCKO (BiH) in another national and MEVZA League derby as well.
Calcit Volley KAMNIK from Slovenia needed four sets (18-25, 25-23, 30-28, 25-18) to overcome PVK Olymp PRAHA (CZE) in the first leg of the women’s Challenge Cup round of 32, while Austria’s national champions Askö LINZ-STEG emerged victorious from their first duel with SIP SEMPETER (SLO), winning 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 25-16).
