Defending champions ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) cruised to a commanding 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-18) home win over Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) in this week’s MEVZA League top game. As a result, Slovenia’s dominant squad in recent years recaptured the top spot in the standing, while Croatia’s national champions remain in third place. Bozidar Vucicevic and Ivan Raic split the best scorer honours with 17 points each.
“I think the loss against SK Zadruga AICH/DOB one week ago had a big impact on us. Today we showed a completely different attitude from the beginning and the award was a clear victory. We were motivated, tactically well prepared and focused, which was the way to win against Mladost today. We knew this year’s MEVZA League would not be easy. Almost every team is capable of moving to the Final Four tournament and every game will count”, ACH Volley captain Rok Satler explained.

Mladost Ribola KASTELA (CRO) needed four sets to overcome Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT) 18:25, 25:19, 25:19, 25:20 and to celebrate their second victory in this MEVZA League season although the away team was the better one in the early stages of the match. Mladost Ribola’s opposite Ivan Matokovic topped the match scorers on a total of 20 points, as Lars Bornemann from the away team recorded 16 points to his name.
“It was mentally very tough for us because we really wanted this win. Therefore, we were so nervous at the beginning. But in the second set we improved our level and managed to fix our first attack”, Mladost Ribola head coach Ivan Rancic was satisfied with the result.
