This year’s women’s MEVZA Cup title was given in a final match between the best two clubs after the main stage. With home team from Olomouc starting from the second place with same points like winners of the women’s division, girls from Nova KBM Branik Maribor.
For the spectators in Olomouc it was the more active and variable offense of VK UP Olomouc what made the difference on last Saturday evening. While Maribor could win the last match against Olomouc in Slovenia, this evening the guests only were able to succeed in set number three. After the second place last year, when VK UP Olomouc lost in five sets against Békéscsaba, the team from Czech Republic secured its first MEVZA title.
It took 10 years for the second Czech team to win the women’s title, after VK Modranská Prostejov back in 2011.
