The MEVZA Beach Volleyball Senior Championship 2026 came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday in Benesov, Czech Republic, with Czech and Slovak teams lifting the trophies after three days of high-level beach volleyball action.
In the men’s tournament, top-seeded Czech duo Perusic/Sedlak confirmed their status as favourites by winning the title without dropping a set on the final day. In the semifinals, they defeated Austria’s Klemen/Holzinger 2-0 (21-15, 21-18), before producing another dominant performance in the gold medal match against fellow Czech pair Bercik/Bercik, winning 2-0 (21-15, 21-13).
Bercik/Bercik secured their place in the final after overcoming Hilbert/Weber from Luxembourg in straight sets in the semifinals (21-15, 21-14).
The bronze medal match delivered one of the most dramatic encounters of the day, as Hilbert/Weber came back from a set down to defeat Klemen/Holzinger 2-1 (13-21, 21-17, 15-13) and claim third place.
On the women’s side, the Slovak pair Tokosova/Terenova captured the MEVZA title after a strong final against Honzovicova/Pospisilova from the Czech Republic. After convincingly taking the opening set, the Slovak duo dropped the second before responding in the tie-break to secure a 2-1 victory (21-10, 17-21, 15-9).
Their road to the final included a thrilling semifinal battle against the Czech pair Cerna/Lorenzova. Tokosova/Terenova prevailed in three sets (21-16, 15-21, 15-13) to book their place in the championship match.
In the second semifinal, Honzovicova/Pospisilova defeated Hungary’s Honti-Majoros/Posztos-Szabo in straight sets (21-15, 21-18). The Czech duo Cerna/Lorenzova finished the tournament with a bronze medal after beating Honti-Majoros/Posztos-Szabo 2-0 (21-7, 21-13) in the third-place match.
The tournament in Benešov brought together some of the strongest beach volleyball teams from the MEVZA region, delivering intense matches, dramatic tie-breaks, and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the weekend.
