The MEVZA Beach Volleyball U18/U20 Championship continued in spectacular fashion in Limassol, as another day of top-class international competition unfolded at the Cyprus Volleyball Federation’s Beach Volleyball Facilities on the beachfront of Agios Tychonas.
Young athletes from six MEVZA member countries once again showcased outstanding talent, determination and sportsmanship, confirming the tournament’s status as one of the region’s premier youth beach volleyball events. The penultimate day of competition featured the quarter-finals and semi-finals across all age categories, producing thrilling encounters on the sand and beach volleyball of the highest standard from some of Europe’s most promising young players.
Attention now turns to Sunday, 26 July, when the championship will reach its climax with the gold medal finals and classification matches across all categories. The tournament has brought together rising beach volleyball talents from six countries: Israel, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Croatia and Cyprus, while enthusiastic spectators have created a fantastic atmosphere, cheering on the athletes as they gave their very best throughout the competition.
The Czech Republic proved to be the dominant force in the U18 competition, with four of its teams advancing to the finals. The U18 Boys’ Final will feature Novotny / Votava vs Vavrich / Michalek, while the U18 Girls’ Final will feature Hola / Simkova vs Endlicherova / Uchrova.
This year’s championship has already been written into the history books of Cypriot beach volleyball. For the first time in the history of the MEVZA Beach Volleyball Championship, Cyprus has two teams among the tournament’s finalists in the same edition, a remarkable milestone for the sport in the country. The Cypriot pairs Konstantina Siapani / Thea Christoforou (U20 Girls) and Alexios Anninos Chrysostomou / Michalis Kalafatis (U20 Boys) have both advanced to the gold medal matches, where they will battle for the championship titles. Their performances represent a historic achievement for Cypriot beach volleyball and confirm the steady progress of the sport at international level.
In the U20 Girls’ Final, Siapani / Christoforou will face Israel’s Nachshoni / Maor, while in the U20 Boys’ Final, Chrysostomou / Kalafatis will take on the Israeli pair Goldschmidt Fischer / Gozlan.
