As many as 23 teams contested on Thursday the qualification round for the 2-Star World Tour women’s event in Brno, Czech Republic, to finalise the composition of the Main Draw. The 46 players fought as much as they could in an effort to reach the next stage of the competition.
These include the Czech pair Miroslava Dunarová and Daniela Resová – who started their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Lynne Beattie and Melissa Coutts of Scotland before losing to Germany’s Chenoa Christ/Lisa-Sophie Kotzan despite putting up a real fight from start to end.
Next to Christ/Kotzan, the eventual qualifiers are Amanda Harnett/Anita Dormann of Canada, Germany’s Anna-Lena Grüne/Leonie Körtzinger, Italy’s Chiara They and Sara Breidenbach, as well as Susannah Muno/Delaney Knudsen and Terese Cannon/Corinne Quiggle of USA. The American teams ended eventually earning their Main Draw tickets against Simonicova/Tokosova from Slovakia and the Vasvari sisters from Hungary respectively.
A total of six teams from the Middle European region will still be starting in the Main Draw today with four host teams from Czech Republic, an Austrian and Slovenian team.
