Cortegaca, Portugal. In the past two days, a number of MEVZA teams have been playing in the Portugal 1-star event. While the men have started the pool play and are about to play the pool classification matches, the women have already finished their pool play and are continuing with the elimination phase.

On the women’s side the Cyprus team Nyström Er./Gusarova managed to win their pool and advance directly into the quarterfinal. In their final pool play match they met the Czech team Dostalova, M./Francova, who will be up a bit earlier in the day, in the Round of 12 against a strong New Zealand team.
Schnetzer/Friedl, F. and Reiter, J./Murauer will decide in a direct matchup which Austrian team will be advancing directly to the quarterfinals on the men’s end of the event. The Czech Bercik brothers and the other Austrians Köstler, G./Ochaya La. will have another opportunity at securing a spot for themselves in the elimination phase.
