On Saturday night, Croatia’s national champions Mladost ZAGREB came from two sets down to celebrate a hard-fought 12-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-11 away win at SK Zadruga AICH/DOB in their second MEVZA League match of the year. The former competition winners from Austria, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat this season.
“It’s a pity that we missed the chance to beat Croatia’s champions. We played incredible in the first two sets, but then we became error-prone and the players of Mladost seemed to be in a better condition physically” AICH/DOB’s sports director Martin Micheu explained.
The Austrian side is still sitting in third place of the current standing now on six points with a 2-1 win-loss record, while Mladost moved up to sixth place. Home star Jani Jeliazkov was the player of the match after an extraordinary performance that saw him finishing on 34 points for AICH/DOB. Mladost ZAGREB’s Boris Buša and Kruno Nikacevic recorded 17 points each.
