The MEVZA Leagues are going to continue on Wednesday with three fixtures. In the men’s competition, VKP BRATISLAVA will be hosting the current table leaders OK MERKUR MARIBOR. Slovenia’s national champions did not disappoint their supporters so far and recorded two solid 3-1 wins. VKP BRATISLAVA, on the other hand, stood no chance at Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL one week ago. Therefore, OK MERKUR MARIBOR will go into the encounter as the favourites.
BRATISLAVA’s middle-blocker Jan Tarabus: “We have high expectations for the first match on home soil this season. In the MEVZA League we have the opportunity to compete with international teams. That is somehow different than participating in national competitions. We know that it will not be an easy match, but we will prepare well and want to show strength.”
The second men’s fixture will take place at Zwettl, when MARIBORs’ first pursuers Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL lock horns with defending champions and eleven times MEVZA League winners ACH Volley LJUBLJANA. While the “Nordmänner” collected five points for the standings in the two matches they have contested so far, the “Orange Dragons” started their season with a convincing home win over national rivals OK Calcit KAMNIK last Saturday.
In the women’s competition Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR will be facing SVS Post SCHWECHAT. The hosts as well as the Austrian side were not able to secure a point in their season openers.
Live streaming of all matches is available for fans to follow the competition as closely as possible.
