With the sun blazing and the atmosphere heating up in Bibinje, Day 3 of the MEVZA Beach Volleyball Championship 2025 delivered everything fans could hope for – close matches, unexpected twists, and pure passion on the sand. The quarterfinals in both the men’s and women’s competitions wrapped up today, setting the stage for a thrilling finals day on Sunday.

Men’s Quarterfinal Recap

The men’s side saw two straight-set wins and two hard-fought three-set battles. Top-seeded Czechs Semerad/Stocek proved their consistency, overcoming Hungary’s Tari/Veress in a tight match (19–21, 21–19, 15–10), while the 2023 MEVZA silver medallists Friedl/Schnetzer from Austria looked sharp in a quick 2–0 win over Pihera/Melmuka.

A major upset came from the Slovenian qualifiers Nanut/Renko, who stunned Pokesrnik/Kosenina in straight sets (29–27, 21–19), showing nerves of steel in the opening set. Meanwhile, Austria’s Klemen/Sponer edged out another Slovenian pair in an intense 3-set duel.

Women’s Quarterfinal Recap

The women’s draw featured three tight three-set matches. Top seeds Kotnik/Marolt M. (SLO) showed their class against Austria’s Hammarberg/Bisanz, winning in just 26 minutes. The Czech duo Kubickova/Pluharova battled through a dramatic comeback against Harmanova/Slezakova (SVK), clinching the decider 15–12.

Frommova/Marcelova, also from the Czech Republic, delivered a clean 2–0 win over Israel’s Maor/Gonzalez, while Honti-Majoros/Szabo (HUN) came out on top in a 3-set thriller against Pospisilova/Mokra.
