The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour will return to Hungary later this summer for the third 1-Star double-gender event hosted in this country over the course of the last four years. The tournament will run from August 19-22 in Budapest and more specifically at Lupa Beach – the very same area that just played host to open water competition during the European Aquatics Championships.

Lupa Beach will be playing host to the 1-Star World Tour event scheduled for late August in Budapest
Hungary previously hosted World Tour events in 2018 and 2019 – doing so in Siófok and Budapest, respectively, before putting any such plans on hold in 2020 following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The addition of this 1-Star tournament to the 2021 calendar is obviously good news for up-and-coming teams, who have had very little opportunities to compete on the international stage in a 2020 season heavily disrupted by the global health crisis. Moreover, it is good news for the promotion and growth of Beach Volleyball in Hungary, a country known for producing elite athletes in an impressive number of Olympic sports, whereas there is still much room for Beach Volleyball to develop even further.

The updated Beach Volleyball calendar now includes the 1-Star double gender event in Budapest
