On Wednesday evening, OK Calcit Volley KAMNIK (SLO) suffered a very disappointing home loss at the hands of Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL (AUT). The ‘Nordmänner’ needed five sets (25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-12) to secure their third MEVZA League victory this season. Therefore, they were able to defend the fourth place in the current standing. Calcit Volley, on the other hand, is sitting in fifth on a 2-3 win-loss record.

URW’s Marek Sulc top scored with 17 points, while Calcit Volley’s Gal Timotej Kos managed to put 14 to his name, including three aces. Maciej Borris from the winning side delivered an impressive blocking performance with seven stuffs.
The MEVZA Executive Committee announced that Union Raiffeisen WALDDVIERTEL will be hosting the Final Four tournament for the second consecutive season. Therefore, the 2020-2021 edition of the MEVZA League will reach its climax on February 27 and 28 at the Stadthalle Zwettl.

On Friday, OK Calcit Volley KAMNIK will be facing second-placed OK Merkur MARIBOR in a national Derby on home soil. In the first encounter this season almost three months ago, Gregor Jeroncic’s team celebrated a hard-fought 3-2 away win after missing the chance for a clean sweep in the third set. “We do not care about that anymore. The most important thing on Friday will be to start the match knowing that we can beat them”, so Calcit Volley captain Mitja Gasparini.
