The 2020-2021 edition of the MEVZA League is going to continue on Friday evening, when bottom of the table and competition rookies UVC Holding GRAZ (AUT) will be hosting SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (AUT) in a national derby. In the first encounter seven weeks ago, the former MEVZA League champions left no chance to their compatriots on home soil.

SK Zadruga AICH/DOB are currently sitting in third place on a 3-4 win-loss record. Austria’s heavyweight were able to secure two important victories in their previous two MEVZA League games. On October 27, they celebrated in Bleiburg an unexpected 3-1 win over defending champions ACH Volley LJUBLJANA and last Saturday Matjaz Hafner’s team emerged victorious from their national clash with Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL at Zwettl. Therefore, SK Zadruga AICH/DOB are back in the race for a Final Four spot.
UVC Holding GRAZ, on the other hand, have not been able to collect a single point from the five matches they have contested so far. “After the quarantine due some coronavirus cases, we are very much looking forward to finally playing at the Raiffeisen Sportpark Graz again. We are going to face tough challenges in the coming weeks and we will try hard to pick up some points for the MEVZA League standing and for the table of the national championship as well,” UVC Holding GRAZ outside hitter Johannes Kratz explains.
