The MEVZA League is going to continue with another six very interesting matchups this weekend. The men’s competition will see the clash of the Austrian teams Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL and last season’s silver medallists SK Zadruga AICH/DOB at the Zwettl City hall on Saturday evening. Calcit Volley KAMNIK (SLO), the closest pursuers of titleholders and current table leaders ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) will host bottom of the table OK Mladost BRCKO (BIH), while third-placed Mladost Ribola KASTELA and fourth-placed Mladost ZAGREB are going to lock horns in a Croatian derby on Saturday as well.
Calcit Volley have some unfinished business with the Bosnian champions from Brcko. Four weeks ago, Mladost surprised them, coming back from two sets down to win the game. “The match in Brcko certainly did not work out as planned. This Saturday we will do our best to win, and I believe we will do so. Unfortunately, we will not be able to count on Mario Koncilja, but we will do everything we can to cover for him,” 208-cm-tall Calcit Volley’s outside hitter Milosz Hebda is optimistic. But no team shall be underestimated, Hebda warns: “The matches in the MEVZA League are of good quality, most of the teams are on a similar level, so it is no wonder that there is no team left undefeated. Our goal is to qualify for the Final Four tournament, so we should not suffer any further setbacks.”
