Two wins in the general rehearsal for the final four in Austria on the penultimate MEVZA Cup weekend of this season brings SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob back on top of the men’s table.
Two tournaments have been played last weekend in the MEVZA Cup Men, in Nitra (SVK) and in Bleiburg (AUT). While Austrias top team finished a perfect weekend with two victories against Vegyész RC Kazincbarcika (HUN) and Calcit Volley Kamnik from Slovenia, home team VKP Bystrina SPU Nitra took one win and a 2 – 3 loss against second Austrians from Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel. In the table, both Austrian teams could climb up, Aich/Dob back on top and Waldviertel secures its fifth position. Four matches still have to be played. At the end of January we will see the Croatian duel between Mladost Ribola Kaštela and Mladost Zagreb. For Zagreb the chance to reach the top three. ACH Volley Ljubljana will host the last tournament of the season at the end February, also Slovenias top club is qualified for the final four in Bleiburg. With one win out of their two home matches, ACH can finish on top.
Olomouc & Békéscsabai made it in the final four
The first two places in MEVZA Cup Women are set. VK UP Olomouc (CZE) with eight wins out of nine matches and final four organizer Linamar Békécsabai RSE from Hungary (7 wins, 2 losses) secured the first two places in the table, even if five more matches have to be played. Four teams still fighting for the other two places for the final four. Calcit already finished the pre-season, needs a lot of help from Sokol Post NÖ to stay in top four. Best chances to get a ticket to the final four are up to Nova KBM Branik Maribor (SLO) and Mladost Zagreb (CRO). Both clubs have it in their own hands, but also currently 6th ranked Strabag VC Bratislava (SVK) has a chance to go to Békécsabai. Big winners of last weekend have been Linamar Békécsabai RSE with two wins and Mladost Zagreb taking three points from Calcit Volley Kamnik.

Volleyball Team Bekescsaba (HUN) & Posojilnica AICH/DOB (AUT) will be the hosts and organizers of the MEVZA Cup Final Four Tournament. Men’s Finals will be played from 09th to 10th of March in Austria, followed by the women’s competition from 10th to the 11th of March in Hungary.
