… on New years Eve. OK, still there are the same four teams on top, but the order has changed.
After the last tournament of MEVZA Cup in 2017 current titleholder ACH Ljubljana is leading the men’s table. After beating second Slovenian top team from Kamnik in straight three sets, ACH surprisingly has to go for five sets against VKP Bystrina SPU Nitra. Meanwhile Mladost Zagreb secures two more wins without losing a single set, shows them on second place. The Austrian derby in Zwettl ended up with a clear 3 – 0 for home team Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel. Which brings SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob into fourth position in the leaderbord.
At the end of January, the last seven matches are scheduled, before the Final Four in Austria takes place. Still there is – at least theoretical – chance for Hungarian team from Kazincbarcika to reach the fourth place. However, Aich/Dob just needs two points out of the last two matches, while the Hungarians need two wins. Both teams will compete in the same tournament, with Aich/Dob having home advantage hosting the matches in Bleiburg.
