While Christmas Evening just passed, the New Year’s Eve is only a few days, but ten MEVZA matches away. The men’s competition continues on Wednesday with a single match. Mladost Ribola Kaštela from Croatia is hosting one tournament in their hometown, facing first OK Triglav Kranj (SLO) and on Friday Spartak Myjava (SVK). All eyes will be bent to Ljubljana, where host team ACH clashes for the top of the table against Calcit Volley Kamnik on Thursday. While one of the two Slovenian top teams will go into 2018 as the leading team, VKP Bystrina SPU Nitra has to defeat both teams in Ljubljana to keep the door to the final four open. Their opponent in the race for the final, Mladost Zagreb, has the more comfortable tasks right after Christmas. In Zagreb, they play against Vegyész RC Kazincbarcika (HUN) and KDS šport Košice.
In Austria, we will see the duel between the two top teams of the country between Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel and SK Posojilnica Aich/Dob. While the team from Carinthia has a comfortable eight points lead in the national league, the team from Lower Austria is hungry to come up with a nice surprise for their fans at home right before New Year’s Eve.
The women’s competition continues in 2018, first matches will be played from 4th of January on.
