Calcit Volley will start the MEVZA competition on Tuesday at 20:00. Their first opponent will be Marina Kaštela, who recorded only one victory in the six-member league last year. This season, there are seven teams in MEVZA, the competition will take place according to the tournament system.
However, the modernised MEVZA will not start as a tournament in Kamnik, as Viennese Post Schwechat cancelled their participation just before the beginning, so this season, along with Calcit Volley and Marina Kaštela, Nova KBM Branik, Mladost Zagreb, Linz Steg, Swietelsky-Bekescsaba and for the first time also the Ukrainian Prometey Dnipro, will compete for the MEVZA trophy.
At least on paper, Marina Kaštela along with Linz should be the weakest team in this year’s MEVZA. A week ago, they celebrated at a tournament in Kaštela and Split in memory of Branko Dragani?. Since the Croatian championship hasn’t started yet, the first round will take place this weekend, Calcit Volley doesn’t have much information on this year’s Marina’s line-up.
“To be honest, I don’t know how strong Marina Kaštela this season is. There just wasn’t time for that, but it doesn’t even matter, because we must go into every game, regardless of who is on the other side of the net, one hundred percent, without underestimating or over-respecting. We must focus on our performance and do everything to show our best game at the given moment“, Gregor Rozman is not worried about the guests from Dalmatia.
