SK Zadruga AICH/DOB celebrated a convincing 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 28-26) home win in the MEVZA League clash with their national rivals Union Raiffeisen WALDVIERTEL on Tuesday night. The former champions increased their tally to twelve points from a 4-1 win-loss record. Therefore, the team from Carinthia is now only three points behind table leaders ACH Volley LJUBLJANA and OK Merkur MARIBOR. Already on Thursday VKP BRATISLAVA will be hosting AICH/DOB.
“On week ago, we suffered a very disappointing defeat at Union WALDVIERTEL in the Austrian Volley Cup. All the more we are happy about this win. Especially in the first two sets we delivered an extraordinary performance. The result proves that we are in really good shape,” AICH/DOB’s sports director Martin Micheu explained.
In the women’s competition the current table leaders OK Calcit KAMNIK cruised to an impressive 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) home win over underdogs VB NÖ SOKOL/POST of Austria. Therefore, Slovenia’s reigning national champions are still unbeaten with a 5-0 win-loss record. “Before the match we agreed that there should be no underestimation and that we have to take the match extremely seriously. I am pleased that my players stayed very focused throughout the whole match. We have also to cope with some injuries, so it is not easy to keep the level high”, Calcit KAMNIK’s head coach Gregor Rozman said.
