In the women’s MEVZA League, OK Calcit KAMNIK secured three points for the standing on Wednesday night. Slovenia’s reigning national champions needed four sets to claim a 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 25-21) victory against OK Marina KAŠTELA of Croatia on home soil.
The hosts have won all of their three matches in this season’s competition so far, while the Croatians remain at the bottom of the table – as they have not been able to collect a single point until now. OK Calcit KAMNIK top the charts on eight points, Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST is the first pursuer just one point behind. In their latest fixture, the Hungarian team celebrated a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-14, 25-17) home win over Nova KBM Branik MARIBOR of Slovenia.
Gregor Rozman, head coach OK Calcit KAMNIK: “Although the away team could not count on a full roster, there was no underestimation on our side. We started well, but the level of our performance dropped in the second set because of our own mistakes. I am happy that despite not playing our best match, we won all three points.”
Milorad Krunic, head coach OK Marina KASTELA: “We missed seven players tonight. If we had had a few more substitutions, we might have taken at least one point, but it is true that Kamnik just played as much as they needed to win.”
Live streaming of all matches is available for fans to follow the competition as closely as possible.
