In the men’s MEVZA League, defending champions ACH Volley LJUBLJANA emerged victorious from the highly anticipated clash with OK Merkur MARIBOR on Saturday night. The ‘Orange Dragons’ came from one set down to claim a 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-17 away win in a very exciting Slovenian derby.
Therefore, ACH Volley moved up to the top spot in the current standing on 15 points. The eleven-time MEVZA League winners have not dropped a single point in the five matches they have contested so far. OK Merkur MARIBOR, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat this season after celebrating five victories in a row. Slovenia’s reigning national champions are now sitting in second place on 15 points as well. Alen Šket registered a tally of 20 points for the away side, while Roland Gergye recorded 17 for MARIBOR.
The men’s MEVZA League continues on Sunday, when TJ Spartak MYJAVA of Slovakia will be hosting Austria’s UVC Holding GRAZ.
